The Ontario Boccia Championships featured an impressive lineup of 37 athletes, each bringing their unique skills and competitive spirit to the event, making it a truly memorable and dynamic competition.

Lance Cryderman (Sudbury, ON) not only clinched the gold medal in the BC1 category but also showcased why he’s a standout athlete in the sport of boccia. This victory is particularly significant as Lance prepares for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, where he will represent Ontario and Canada on an international stage. His performance at the Ontario Boccia Championships underscores his readiness and commitment to excelling at the Paralympics, making him a strong contender to watch in Paris.

Dominic Gomez (Toronto, ON) secured the bronze medal in the BC2 category and was also honored with the prestigious Cheryl-Anne Hewitt Spirit of the Games Award. This special accolade is given to the athlete who exemplifies the true spirit of boccia through sportsmanship, dedication, and an inspiring attitude. His positive impact on and off the court highlights his role as a true ambassador for the sport.

Boccia is a precision ball sport, closely related to bocce, and designed for athletes with physical disabilities. The game is played by individuals or teams, and the objective is to throw or roll balls as close as possible to a target ball, known as the jack.
