Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities has donated $10,000 to the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association (OCPSA) to support the delivery of a para-athletics program in the Nation’s Capital that will see children and youth with physical disabilities participate in wheelchair racing.

Jumpstart’s generous support will outfit the program with racing chairs and stationary training rollers as well as fund coaching supports required to deliver the program.

Wheelchair racing is an exhilarating sport that combines strength, technique, and determination. And it offers both physical and mental challenges making it an empowering and rewarding experience for all ages. By starting with the right equipment, learning proper techniques, and joining this supportive program, Ottawa area children and youth with physical disabilities will embark on a fulfilling journey in wheelchair racing.

“We are incredibly grateful to Jumpstart for its ongoing support and this generous grant,” said Amanda Fader, Executive Director of OCPSA. “Together, we’re establishing wheelchair racing in the Ottawa community, increasing sport participation among children and youth with physical disabilities, and improving their quality of life through exercise, skill development, and increased confidence.”
