The 2026 roster features nine returning athletes from 2025 and two athletes returning from previous Championships: Carter Plumb (Brampton, ON) and Julian Caverley (St. Catharines, ON). This will be Caverley’s first time representing Ontario outside of the province. Caverley shared his excitement about competing in British Columbia, “I am excited to take BC by storm and I am very excited to be out of Ontario for the first time – ready to pump it up”.
2026 has been a big year for several members of Team Ontario, with four athletes representing Canada on the international stage. 2025 Canadian Boccia Championships gold medalist, Lance Cryderman (Sudbury, ON), competed at the Povoa De Varzim 2026 World Boccia Cup last month representing Canada in the BC1 Individual event. Cryderman will also be in South Korea for the Seoul 2026 World Boccia Championship from August 24 to September 4.
In June, Joshua Gautier (Niagara Falls, ON) made his international debut at the Birmingham 2026 World Boccia Challenger in Alabama, alongside Ontario teammates Kyle Scott (Hamilton, ON) and Liza Puri (London, ON). Gautier reflected on his experience in stating, “I am very thankful for this opportunity to play at the international level! Winning one of my first games feels great! I feel like I belong here! I know with continued practice and development I can be successful. I look forward to growing as an athlete and can’t wait for the next opportunity to play for Canada”. Scott and Puri will also be representing Canada at the Pilsen 2026 World Boccia Challenger in Czech Republic from September 7 to September 15. All four athletes will then rejoin their Ontario teammates in Richmond for the Canadian Boccia Championships.
Individual play will be October 1 to October 3, followed by team and pair play on October 4. Keep up with the action and get the latest news on the event webpage!
